I was lucky enough to have a grandfather that believed in my dreams of becoming an illustrator since the very beginning. About twenty years ago he put together a scrapbook of many of the pictures I had drawn while visiting him and my grandmother over the years. These pictures were done between the ages of six and eight. He also let me use his typewriter because I was determined to write a book about hairspray that shrinks a group of friends.
