All of these paintings were done using Crayola Crayons. The technique of melting the crayons onto the board with a hot iron and mixing them together with a heat gun was inspired by Daniel Kaufman. I had read an article about him in the summer of 2006 in Artist's Sketchbook Magazine. I decided to try it out because it looked like something fun and different and it looked like a great way to loosen up my work. I've been hooked on it ever since. It's a really fun alternative to my normal style of painting and alternating between the two helps me keep working in my studio, whether I feel like sitting down and drawing a tight, detailed illustration or just throwing colors around.
